Thursday night Casper Area Economic Development Alliance (CAEDA) and Forward Casper Board Members held their second “Meet and Greet”, at the Lyric, with physicians from the Caper area. The event was hosted by Dr. Todd Hammond, from Mountain View Regional Hospital, one of Forward Casper’s newest board members. While the weather dampened the expected attendance the presentation by Charles Walsh, CEO, was greeted with appreciation and questions. He outlined the new direction CAEDA has committed itself to along with the vision for the industries it’s targeting.
The medical field represents a foundational industry that CAEDA is pursuing to expand. The primary message to the medical audience was through the strength of their collective voices, CEADA can determine what areas of strength already exist in the medical field in Casper as well as what are other medical or biomedical industries that could make the Casper area economically better and stronger.
This initial event will be utilized as a springboard for the formation of a medical committee that will focus on taking those discussion ideas and transforming them into initiatives toward moving the medical/healthcare industry from its current secondary position to a primary industry in Natrona County. Some ideas discussed were telemedicine, women’s and pediatric healthcare, and patient transportation. The committee will discuss these and others and prioritize those into short, mid and long-term goals.
