Forward Casper Board Member Billy Brenton, of Transportation Partners & Logistics (TP&L) addressed Governor Mead and several state legislators at the Wyoming Wind Coalition’s legislative cocktail reception on February 13, in Cheyenne. Brenton stressed the importance of having a strong, positive message from the state government that encourages companies to do business in Wyoming. With the uncertainty around Wyoming’s policies regarding wind development, many companies choose to avoid Wyoming and go to states that welcome the economic benefits the industry provides. Brenton said he believes there are many opportunities for Wyoming but that it’s going to take consistent and decisive leadership to demonstrate support for the industry, in order for companies to commit to creating jobs in this state. Other speakers at the event included an executive from Wal-Mart, the CEO of Viridis, a rep for EDP Renewables, and other Wind Coalition members.
