Innovation – Start a business
Entrepreneurs are innovators of the economy! It is not just the scientist who invents and creates the solutions. Casper Area Economic Development Alliance and Forward Casper believe supporting Entrepreneurship and Small Business is a critical component to a healthy economic ecosystem. That is why in November of 2016 Forward Casper was a founding member of Breakthrough 307 Fund 1, the first organized angel fund investment group in the state of Wyoming.

The current state of the Casper economy includes dependency on the minerals industry. Casper is losing its talented workforce to neighboring states and communities due to more perceived opportunities in those other communities. Casper also has a large industrial economy with little diversification which prevents those laid-off employees from transferring their skills to other jobs in Casper.
In the 2018 CAEDA/FC Strategic Plan, one of the principle goals was to prioritize the development of Casper-based innovative companies to create high growth companies to fill market gaps and diversify the economy. In 2017, CAEDA/FC sponsored the formation of the first Wyoming-based Angel Fund, Breakthrough 307, in Casper to provide funding to promising entrepreneurs with differentiated products, markets, and/or Intellectual Property. After a year in the market, it became obvious that Casper was not generating enough quality entrepreneurs, thus companies, who were prepared and capable of seeking or supporting, equity capital. In the interest of leveraging the prior investments in entrepreneurship, the CAEDA/FC Finance Committee felt it important to create an intensive course to prepare entrepreneurs to enter the market.
The annual Entrepreneur Boot Camp will be offered in conjunction with Wyoming Technology Business Center’s Start-Up Challenge.
