The Casper Area has a long history and reputation of manufacturing and supplying quality equipment, materials, and tools for the oil and gas industry across the West. As CAEDA/Forward Casper looked to diversify and expand the manufacturing base of the area utilizing the same skills and equipment, it was clear that there were a couple opportunities that fit well with Casper’s envisioned future:
- Aerospace & Defense
- Outdoor Recreation
Aerospace & Defense (A&D)
The Casper region is blessed with an advanced manufacturing ethos, spawned and developed by our rich history in energy research, innovation, development and production. Wyoming manufacturers wield advanced materials, engage highly technical computer-aided CNC machinery, and possess some of the top skilled and technically oriented workforce in the USA. Centrally located in the northwest, the Casper region has geographic supply chains to large aerospace and defense markets in Colorado and Utah. The region’s focus on the fast-growing unmanned aerial systems industry, combined with the area’s advanced manufacturing and promising IT development, provide the perfect environment to start, grow, manufacture, and market A&D technologies, services, and products.
Small businesses in the Casper region continue to develop the skills, knowledge, and abilities to do advanced manufacturing projects for the A&D prime contractors and their critical-mission defense customers. Local small businesses within Wyoming and Casper region have identified the value and transferability of their existing energy-related projects, services, and solutions to the needs and challenges of the A&D industry. These mutually beneficial relationships allow the Air Force to enjoy increased agility, flexibility and responsiveness for their mission needs while supporting local Wyoming businesses.
The culture of the Casper community has always been closely connected to the outdoors: hunting, fishing, mountain biking, boating, skiing, hiking, camping, etc. The natural features that surround Casper cater to almost any outdoor enthusiast or casual recreationist. What better place to manufacture outdoor gear, equipment, transportation vehicles, etc.?
